Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Hanford Journal ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service, including authors, reviewers, and readers.

User Accounts

When you create an account with us, you must provide accurate, complete, and current information. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Terms.

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised access
  • Ensuring your contact information remains current

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these Terms or remain inactive for extended periods.

Manuscript Submissions

By submitting a manuscript to Hanford Journal, you represent and warrant that:

  • The work is original and has not been published elsewhere
  • The work is not under consideration by another journal or publisher
  • All authors have approved the submission
  • You have obtained necessary permissions for any third-party content
  • The research complies with ethical standards and applicable regulations
  • All funding sources and conflicts of interest are disclosed

Important: Submission of plagiarised work, fabricated data, or duplicate publications may result in immediate rejection, retraction of published work, and notification to your institution.

Publication Fees and Payments

Article Processing Charges (APCs) are payable upon acceptance of your manuscript. Current fees are published on our Publication Fees page.

  • Academic articles: RM60 (approximately USD 13)
  • Creative works: RM15 (approximately USD 3)
  • Fees are non-refundable once the article has been published
  • Fee waivers are available for eligible authors — see our Publication Fees page for details
  • We accept payment via credit/debit cards and online banking

Intellectual Property and Licensing

Authors retain copyright to their published work. Upon acceptance, you grant Hanford Journal a non-exclusive licence to publish, distribute, and archive the work.

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which allows others to:

  • Share and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the material
  • Use the material for any purpose, including commercial use

Users must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the licence, and indicate if changes were made.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

Prohibited Actions
  • Submit fraudulent or plagiarised content
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Upload malware or malicious code
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access
  • Scrape or harvest user data
  • Interfere with service operations
Encouraged Behaviour
  • Submit original, high-quality work
  • Provide constructive peer reviews
  • Maintain professional communication
  • Respect others' intellectual property
  • Report ethical concerns appropriately
  • Keep account information current

Peer Review Obligations

If you participate as a peer reviewer, you agree to:

  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts under review
  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback
  • Declare any conflicts of interest
  • Not use information from reviewed manuscripts before publication
  • Decline reviews outside your area of expertise
  • Report suspected ethical violations to the editorial team

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the Service's reliability, availability, or suitability for your purposes.

We are not liable for:

  • Content submitted by users or authors
  • Errors or omissions in published articles
  • Service interruptions or data loss
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service

The views expressed in published articles are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of Hanford Journal.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hanford Journal, its editors, reviewers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your submissions, or your violation of these Terms. This includes, but is not limited to, claims of intellectual property infringement relating to content you submit.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including:

  • Breach of these Terms
  • Fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Request from law enforcement
  • Extended periods of inactivity

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. Published articles will remain part of the scholarly record.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified by posting on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
